Herald Palladium 13 Jan 1993
The Herald Palladium carried an obituary for Louis Martin on 13 Jan 1993 and 
it reads:  “Louis Martin Louis Martin, 101, of Battle Creek, formerly of 
Benton Harbor, died Monday at Riverside Manor Nursing Home in Battle Creek.  
The funeral will be held at noon Friday at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 
Benton Harbor, of which he was a member.  Friends may call beginning 5 p.m. 
Thursday at the Fairplain Chapel Florin Funeral Service, Benton Harbor.  
Burial will be in Crystal Springs Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to Michigan 
Lutheran High School or the church.  Mr. Martin was born March 15, 1891, in 
Poland.  He was a retired local fruit farmer.  Survivors include three 
daughters-Mrs. Richard (Annabelle) Jung of Battle Creek, Mrs. Norman (Eleanor) 
Berg of Scoggins, Texas, and Ruth Martin of Chicago; one son, Donald of 
Michigan City, Ind.; four step-daughters-Adena Wadsworth of Bridgman, Ada 
Joseph of Benton Harbor, Erma Hettig of Hot Springs, Ark., and Adaline 
Anderson of St. Joseph; one sister, Helene Kreiger of Germany; 10 
grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren; and five stepgrandchildren.  He was 
preceded in death by his wife, Alvina Martin, in 1980, and by a daughter, 
Ellen Martin, in 1923.”  DOD 11 Jan 1993
