The local papers speak highly of him and his family. He was born in Baden, Germany, Oct. 15, 1844, and in 1854, with his widowed mother and four other little ones, journeyed to America, stopping first in Chicago, where the family resided for a couple of years. Thence they moved to near Pike's pier, this county. Frank followed farming until 1862, when he, with his brothers William, August ans Theodore, enlisted at St. Joseph in Co. I, 19th Michigan Infantry and in time was honorably discharged, with a Lieutenant's commission. He was active in local and county politics as a Democrat, and was acting Mayor of St. Joseph for some time after that city's incorporation as a city in 1892. The funeral occured today at the Catholic church in St. Joseph.
