Effie Myers’ obituary was carried in the Herald Palladium on 06 Sep 1990 and 
reads: “Effie Myers Bridgman-Mrs. Effie Myers, 99, 9856 Baldwin Road, 
Bridgman, died Wednesday at Jordan Nursing Home, Bridgman. The funeral will be 
held Friday at 2 p.m. at Boyd Funeral Home, Bridgman. Burial will be in 
Greenwood Cemetery. Friends may call today from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday 9 a.m. 
to 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Bridgman Public 
Library. Mrs. Myers was born Oct. 24, 1890, in Lake Township. She was a member 
of Faith United Methodist Church, Bridgman. Survivors include: one daughter, 
Wanita Velchek of Chicago Heights, Ill.: two grandchildren; five great-
grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death 
by her husband, Elmer, in 1959, and by two daughters-Thelma in 1912 and Wilma 
Brown in 1987.”
