Feb. 9, 1957, page 2 Obituary of D.D. Pangborn, Niles Daily Star, Sat. Feb. 9, 1957, page 2 D.D. Pangborn of Buchanan Dead at 100 Buchanan—Darwin D. Pangborn, who on Dec. 22 celebrated his 100th birthday, died at 7 p.m. Friday in the home of his daughter, Mrs. Grace Nutt, of Dearborn, Mich., where he had made his home since 1949. Mr. Pangborn, who owned and operated a grocery store here for a number of years, was born Dec. 22, 1856, in Buchanan Township the son of Joel and Sarah Pangborn. He had lived in Berrien County 80 of his 100 years and had been engaged in farming before entering the grocery business. He was married March 10, 1880, to Mary Ann Tomlinson, and they celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary in 1945. Mrs. Pangborn died in October, 1946. Surviving—besides the daughter in Dearborn are: two other daughters, Mrs. Zoa Forman Eby, of Elkhart, Ind., and Mrs. Alice Fowler, of Big Rapids; a son Albert O. Pangborn, of Niles; a brother, Fred Pangborn, of Grand Rapids; 19 grandchildren; 48 great grandchildren, and nine great, great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday in the Swem Funeral Home here with the Rev. Lawrence E. Lee, pastor of the Buchanan Evangelical United Brethren Church, of which Mr. Pangborn was a member, officiating. Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home.
