The Rev. J. T. Henry pastor of the First Congregational church officiated at the rites and the body was placed in the receiveing[sic] vault in the Buchanan cemetery unitl[sic] warmer weather. Burial services will be held in that cemetery beside the grave of her husband Eugene Russ, who died several years ago. Mrs. Russ had been in ill health for some time but had appeared better the past few weeks until a few days before her death. On Friday afternoon she was taken to the home of her sister Mrs. White to be cared for until improved but a sudden change came for the worse and death came as a shock at five o’clock. Mrs. Russ was born in Syracuse, N.Y. and came to Berrien County with her father and sister when only a small girl and settled on a farm southeast of this village. Mrs. Russ will be remembered as an early day school teacher having taught in this village and several township schools in the county. Mrs. Russ was a member of the D.A.R. Dewey chapter, also the local Historical Society. Ill health has deprived her from being active of late in civic activities. Mrs. Russ is survived by her sister Mrs. Martha White, three stepsons Atty. Fred Russ of Cassopolis; Charles of South Bend and William; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Frances Wolvington of Dayton, Ohio, besides Lyle Vosburgh who is a nephew, there also survives several other nieces and nephews in this county. Pallbearers were friends and neighbors who included: John Donner, Ben Drier, Alvin Schmidt, Raymond Rothfuchs, Leo Gridley and William Drier.
