Whitmand F. Savage, who died Tuesday evening about 5 o'clock at his home a short distance south of town of tuberculosis was born in Three Oaks township forty-eight years ago last December. February 25, 1880, he was united in marriage to Sarah Ida Churchill, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C.B. Churchill, of Three Oaks, and with his bride resided for a year on the farm of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Savage; then, with his father, he purchased the farm south of town and moved to the new home. Nine children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Savage and seven of these, with the wife and mother, survive the deceased. They are Frank P., Irving P., and Fannie A., adults, and Earl W., Ralph W., Daniel F. and Susan Ida." "Mr. Savage was a quiet, unassuming man. He was devoted to his family and to his neighbors, with whom he always dealt honorably. He will be missed from his neighborhood and by his friends in Three Oaks. "Mr. Savage's fatal malady is supposed to have originated twenty years ago when he was stricken with pluerisy and lay at the point of death for some time. For four years he had been almost a helpless invalid. Besides the wife and children Mr. Savage leaves his father by adoption, Mr. Daniel Savage; a step-sister, Mrs. Alta Warner, of Montana [sic: Minnesota], and a half sister, Miss Janette McNeal, formerly a Three Oaks teacher, now of northern Michigan. "The funeral services were held from the Congregational church, Rev. Mr. Hatch preaching the sermon, at 11 o'clock this morning under the auspices of the local I.O.O.F. and K.O.T.M. lodges. In the latter society the deceased held a $2000 life insurance policy. Interment took place at Forest Lawn."
