Feb. 8, 1879, page 3 SUDDEN DEATH—On Thursday night of last week, Mr. Julius Shafer,--a baker—left the Bakery of Mr. Cox in this place, for his home about ten minutes past nine o’clock. His wife was lying in bed sick at the time, but a little after twelve o’clock she went to the door to see if she could see her husband coming, and found him lying dead within a few feet of the door. For some months previous he had been frequently troubled with a rush of blood to the head, at the times narrowly escaping suffocation, and stated to a friend a few days before his death that he did not believe he would live long. An inquest was held over the body and the jurors found that the deceased came to his death suddenly from natural causes, the symptoms indicating either apoplexy or heart disease.
