The Niles Daily Star carried the obituary of Ellis Shepardson on 01 Oct 
1984:  “Ellis Wayne Shepardson  Ellis Wayne Shepardson, 62, 110 E. Second St., 
Galien, died at 11:07 p.m. Saturday at Memorial Hospital, St. Joseph, 
following a sudden illness.  Born Sept. 10, 1922, in Buchanan, he was a 
lifetime area resident, retired fork lift operator at Clark Equipment Co., 
World War II Army veteran, and member of the Galien Township Fire Department.  
In 1951, in Glendora, he married Margie Brackett, who survives.  Also 
surviving are one daughter, Kay Marie Shepardson of Galien; three sons, Guy W. 
Shepardson, Dean Shepardson and John W. Shepardson, all of Galien; three 
sisters, Fern Myers of Baroda, Doris Padgent of Winter Haven, Fla., and Vera 
Finehout of Rosebush, Mich.; and three grandchildren.  Services are 1:30 p.m. 
Wednesday at the Swem Funeral Home, Buchanan.  Burial will be at the Galien 
Cemetery.  Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral 
home.  Memorials may be made to the Galien Township Fire Department.”
