Berrien County Record, Buchanan, MI, September 1922
Susan Maddron, daughter of Hiram and Martha Jane (Shepherd) Maddron, was born at
the old Maddron homestead near Moccasin Bluff, Buchanan township, February 19,
1843, and passed away at her late home on South Berrien street, September 13, 1922,
  Her husband, Simeon Stevens, preceded her to the other world thirty-two years
ago, leaving her with a family of eight children, five sons and three daughters,
all of whom survive her.  Of these, all were present a the funeral except Harry
of Portland, Oregon.  The others, Donald of Bremen, Indiana; Frank of Spokane,
Washington; Mrs. Myrtle Canfield of Niles, Simeon, Leonard, Mrs. Etta Chappell,
and Mrs. James Bean, all of Buchanan, together with other relatives and friends
gathered a the home of the daughter, Mrs. Bean, where the funeral services were
held Saturday afternoon at two o'clock. Rev. J.J. Terry officiated and Mrs.
Lauch and Mrs. Willard sang.
  Mrs. Stevens spent all of her life in this community and was well known to all
the older residents.  Left a widow with a large family, she faced her difficult
task in the spirit of a true mother and reared them all to manhood and womanhood
and leaves the unusual record of almost four score years of faithful service.
  Burial was made in the family lot at Oak Ridge cemetery.



Additional Comments:
*Note:  The names of parents listed here have always been one of the puzzles as
other documents establish that Susan was child of Leonard Madren.  Per Marriage
record, name of Jane was Galbreath but there may be other marriage that we have
not found.
