Mr. Tremmel was a native of Pennsylvania and moved to Howard township, Cass county, when he was about twenty years of age where he has resided until within two or three years past, when he traded farms with R.T. Twombly and removed to Dayton where he has since resided with his family. He was married to Miss Malinda Wood, in 1848, and has two sons and four daughters living, all of whom were summoned around his dying bed and see depart hence one of the most indulgent of husbands and fathers, a man without an enemy and who was highly esteemed by a whole community for his honesty and strict integrity. As a neighbor, throughout a long life in Howard, all loved him. His home was a welcome place for all. His kindness of heart shed a luster on all around. Long have we known him and when we stood beside his dying bed watching the faint pulsations we could not but exclaim, “here is passing away one of the noblest of God’s works—an honest Christian man.
