March 22, 1945, page 1 Berrien Springs Era, Thurs. March 22, 1945, page 1 SERVICE HELD SATURDAY FOR EDSON B. VALENTINE Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon from the McLauchlin Funeral Home for Edson B. Valentine, 65, who died early Friday morning a the county hospital where he was taken for care Wednesday. He was a son of the late Attorney and Mrs. George M. Valentine, pioneer residents of the county, his father being prosecuting attorney at one time. Rev. W.M.P. Jerrett of the Methodist church officiated at the funeral rite an burial was made in Crystal Springs cemetery. Mr. Valentine was born in Benton Harbor June 27, 1879. He graduated from the local high school in 18985 and from the University of Michigan and the George Washington university. For many years he was employed in the census department at Washington, D.C., but the past few years he was an assistant in the law office of Attorney Clarence Butler. He was a member of the Methodist Peace Temple. Deceased is survived by his brother, G.L. Valentine, president of the Berrien Springs State Bank and two nieces, Mrs. Clarence Freeman and Mrs. Richard Loss, also of this village.
