Valentine A.P Valentine, 75, father of Mrs. Grover Vandenburg and William Valentine of Niles, Died on Saturday evening in his home a mile and a half west of US-31 in the Long Lake neighborhood. Mr. Valentine was born in Three Oaks and spent practically his entire life in Berrien county following the occupation of a farmer. He was stricken with paralysis on Friday evening as he was working in a woodshed on his farm. He is survived by a widow, Mrs. Fanny Cady Valentine, by three children, Mrs. Vandenburg and William Valentine, of Niles and Ray Valentine of Dowagiac. The funeral services will be held in the home tomorrow afternoon at 2 o’clock. The Rev. Richard D. Wearne of Berrien Springs, will officiate. Burial will be made in Rose Hill cemetery in Berrien Springs. D.L. Valentine of the Berrien Springs bank, is a nephew of the deceased. Berrien Springs Era, Thurs., May 14, 1931, page 1 DEATH COMES SUDDENLY TO ANDREW P. VALENTINE PROMINENT BERRIEN TOWNSHIP RESIDENT PASSES AWAY FRIDAY NIGHT FOLLOWING STROKE Andrew P. Valentine, well known farmer and fruit grower who resided for 28 years on his farm in Berrien township west of the range line road, died at 7:30 p.m. Friday evening following a stroke of paralysiss[sic] suffered in the morning of the same day. His death came as a shock to his family and friends as he appeared in his usual health and spirits when in town the day before. Mr. Valentine, who was 75 years of age last December, was a member of a prominent Berrien county family. He was born December 18, 1855 on the old Valentine homestead in Galien township and came to Berrien township 28 years ago. On the 23rd of November 1887 he was untied in marriage to Fannie M. Cady, and to this the union four children were born, Raymond of near Dowagiac; Mrs. Eva Vendenberg[sic] and William Valentine of Niles, and Jeanette who passed away 17 years ago. Besides the widow and children he leaves six grandchildren, a brother Charles N. Valentine of Alderwood Manor, Washington, D.C., and several nephews and nieces. G.L. Valentine, cashier of the Berrien Springs State bank is a nephew. Funeral service was held at the home Tuesday afternoon, Rev. R.D. Wearne of the Methodist church officiating. M.H.
