March 20, 1906, page 2 (Same appeared in Berrien Springs Era, March 29, 1906, page 1) Samuel Weaver was born in the state of Ohio, March 25, 1816 and died of heart disease at his late home near Buchanan, Michigan, March 19, 1906, aged 89 years, 11 months and 24 days. When thirteen years of age he moved to St. Joseph County, Ind., travelling the entire distance on horseback, through an almost continuous forest. He engaged in the manufacture of crockery, the cording of wood and lumbering until 1834, when came to Buchanan township, where he resided up to the time of his death. On March 24 1837, he was united in marriage to Miss Caroline Hunter, with whom he has lived happily for sixty-nine years. To his union were born ten children, seven son[sic] and three daughters, six of whom are still living. Mr. Weaver has led a strictly temperate life having never used either intoxicating liquor or tobacco. He was a life long Christian and at the time of his death was an honored member of the Larger Hope church.
