Mr. Weese was a native of Ohio. Moved from there to Indiana, and in 1834 settled in Niles township just opposite this village. In 1840 he bought the two acres of land which has been his home ever since of Jacob Dutton. He was a blacksmith by trade and operated the first shop of the kind in this section. He held the office of Justice of the Peace in 1842, again in 1846 and 1850 and 1855. He also held the office of postmaster. The funeral services will be held at this late home, to-morrow at 9 a.m. and the remains taken to Long Lake cemetery for interment."
