Active in church and community affairs in Three Oaks,Mrs. White had held many offices in the Congregational church and had taught a Sunday school class for many years. She had attended several world Sunday School congresses, including ones at Jerusalem and Switzerland. Was Early Settler Born in Baldwinsville, N.Y., July 24, 1854, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Zachariah Kinne, she came to Berrien county at the age of five with her family, and settled in the Beaver Dam area near Three Oaks. In 1870, she was married to William White, who preceded her in death. Mrs. White was a member of the Three Oaks Eastern Star Lodge, and was the oldest member of the Three Oaks Past Matrons’ society. She was past president of the Berrien County Eastern Star Association and a member of the Benton Harbor White Shrine. She was a charter member of the D.A.R. and Rebekah lodges and a member of the Three Oaks Women’s club and Three Oaks Embroidery club. Funeral arrangements under the direction of the H.B. Connelly funeral home have not been completed. Friends may call at the funeral home. Until the last few years they were full of church, civic and social duties. She had insisted on living alone in her large home at 212 S. Elm St. until about 2 weeks ago when she had a complete collapse and was taken to the home of her nephew and wife Mr. and Mrs. Zach Kinne who cared for her until her death. She was born July 24, 1854, in Baldwinsville, N.Y., the daughter of Mrs. and Mrs. Zachariah Kinne and came to Three Oaks at the (continued on page 5) age of 5 with her father and two sisters, after the death of her mother. She was married in 1870 to William White who died many years ago. One daughter, Laura, her only child, died at the age of 29. Mrs. White donated a stained glass window to the Methodist church in her memory. The chimes of the organ at the Congregational church were also a gift from her. Her large library was available to anyone who wished to make use of it. Mrs. White was a member of the Congregational church and always active in Sunday school work. She attended two world Sunday School conventions, one in Jerusalem and one in Switzerland as well as state conventions. Her home was filled with trophies brought form all over the world. She was a charter member of the D/A/R., held many offices in the Eastern Star and was a member of the White Shrine. She was a also a charter member of the Rebekah. Two sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Vosburg and Mrs. Ellen Russ preceded her in death by many years. She leaves a number of nephews and nieces.
