V. Ducat. The bride was attended by Miss Mae Codd, while Robert Phalen of South Bend, a classmate of the groom at Notre Dame university was the best man. The bride and her bridemaid wore navy blue suits, with hats to match. Each wore a corsage of roses and sweet peas. Following the ceremony, the bridal party and the bride’s parents were motored to South Bend where they had breakfast in the Wedgewood room of the Oliver hotel. The table was decorated with garden flowers, a gift of Niles friends of the bride. Mr. and Mrs. Shaw left at noon for Stewart, Iowa, where they will visit the groom’s parents for a week. They will then go to Reno, Nevada, where the groom will be athletic director at the University of Nevada. Mr. Shaw, known as “Buck” Shaw, was graduated from Notre Dame University last June. He is prominently known as a star player of Notre Dame University’s football team for two years. The bride was graduated from the Niles high school class of 1919. She has been prominent in Niles social circles and since the announcement of her engagement to Mr. Shaw she has been the guest of honor of numerous social affairs which were concluded with a prenuptial dinner on Tuesday evening at the Mishawaka hotel at which the Beta Gamma Upsilion sorority of which she is a member were hostesses. Many beautiful gifts have been showered upon the young people. In August, 1921, Miss Bowerman and two other Niles young women opened a dress-making establishment in most attractive quarters at 219 ˝ Main street and which has proven a successful business enterprise.
