Coldwater Semi-Weekly Republican, Jan. 20, 1882
Charles K. Calkins' Obituary, Coldwater Semi-Weekly Republican, January 20,
1882, Branch County, Michigan 

Mr. Charles Calkins, residing one mile south of Orangeville, went with his son
into the woods Tuesday afternoon to assist about some wood and after working a
short time complained about a slight pain in his chest and remarked that he
would to up to the house and started in that direction.  His son followed not
long afterward and found him dead in the lane leading to the house, where he had
fallen and apparently passed away without a struggle.  Mr. Calkins was 72 years
of age and had resided on that farm about two years.  (He is buried in the West
Girard Cemetery, Branch County)
