Autopsies conducted Wednesday on 10 month-old Amanda Hudson and 8
month-old Angela Reeves determined that the infants drowned.
The babies were pronounced dead on arrival Tuesday at Community Hospital
after a female resident of Highland Blvd. reported about 12:05 p.m. 
that two children had been discovered unconcious in a bathtub.

"Right now, there's nothing to indicate to us that (the drownings) were 
intentional... The information that we have makes it appear to be accidental," 
Battle Creek Police Lt. Ronald Burden said. "We are trying to sort out some 
discrepancies in information we have received from people involved."
He would not say what the discrepancies- were -or who was involved.
The investigation is expected to be completed today or tomorrow, Burden said.

Results will be turned over to the Calhoun County Prosecutor.

 The infants were being awed for by a baby sitter, identified by police as a 
24Year-old woman whose name is being withheld by authorities until the 
investigation is completed. According to Burden, she was the only adult at the 
home with 12 other small children, most of whom were not yet able to walk.
 The residence is believed to be owned by David. Wermer Jr. and his wife, Keri
Lee Ann Allen, a neighbor, told the Battle Creek Enquirer on Tuesday that Keri
Wermer had been baby-sitting and that she saw the couple carrying other 
children to their cars and leaving after the incident.
 The Wermers' name could not found on a list of licensed day-care 
homes by either Anne McDaniel, a day-care services worker for the 
Department of Social services, or Bruce VandenBosch, family day
care home consultant for the DSS' Division of Child Daycare Licensing.
