Battle Creek Enquirer July 1969
Bedford Township will retain an important segment of it's colorful history when 
it aquires a portion of the  Fort Custer surplus lands. Included in this 
portion is the 120 year old Harmonia Cemetery, located atop a hill near the 
Fort Custer water storage tanks. The cemetery was named after a village called 
HARMONIA in 1850, established by the Society of Friends whick operated a manual 
labor school in the settlement south of the Kalamazoo River.
