Ackert, 87, of Battle Creek, died Saturday, July 28, 2007 at St. Mary's Hospital in Grand Rapids. She was born in Brooklyn, New York. She married Wilbur A. "Bill" Ackert on September 6, 1942 in New York City, they were happily married for 47 years until his death on June 8, 1989. She was also preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters. She traveled extensively with her husband who served in the U.S. Army in World War II and Korea. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Riverside Country Club and was active in military and veterans organizations. Margaret enjoyed playing bridge, golfing, antiques and conversing with family and friends. Above all else, Marge was deeply devoted to Christ and the Blessed Virgin Mary. Friends may call from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday at Shaw Funeral Home. A Rosary will take place 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Interment in Fort Custer National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to "In the Spirit of Community" Battle Creek Catholic Schools Capital Campaign. The family is being served by Shaw Funeral Home.
