Bachorik, age 91, of Battle Creek, died Monday, December 17, 2007 in Orlando, Florida. Helen was born in East Leroy and grew up on her family's farm there. She attended East Leroy's one-room Blackett School through eighth grade, graduated from Lakeview High school in 1934, and received a Bachelor's Degree in Home Economics from Michigan State College in 1939. She earned a Master's Degree in Counseling from Northwestern University in the late 1940s. She excelled in those fields, but she will be remembered above all for her life-long generosity. Helen was a member of several teachers' associations, including the Calhoun County Counselors Association, the Michigan Personnel and Guidance Association, the Battle Creek Home Economics Association, the Preceptor Laureate Delta chapter of Beta Sigma Phi, Delta Kappa Gamma, and the First Congregational Church. Her husband of 59 years passed away last year. Her first husband, Tom Miller, died in WWII. In accordance with her wishes, a cremation has taken place, and a memorial service will be held in Battle Creek next spring. Memorials may be directed to the Jack K.
