Bannister, Samantha "Princess Sami" On the morning of Sunday, July 17, 2016 
Samantha Lee "Princess Sami" Bannister breathed her final breath after her 
courageous battle with Anaplastic Astrocytoma, a rare form of brain cancer. 
Princess Sami will be lovingly remembered by her parents Jeremiah and 
Angela, her brothers Athanasius and Ambrose, and sister Teresa. Her radiance 
will also be missed by her grandparents Annette and John Conrad, Timothy and 
Celia Bannister, An Mays, great-grandma Bannister and great-grandpa Howard 
as well as the multitude of extended family and friends. Princess Sami was 
proudly the only princess of Blackrock Medieval Fest. She enjoyed her time 
as a 5th grader at Campus Elementary School and was always very engaged in 
the activities. She enjoyed speaking about her journey, sharing it with 
organizations such as Secular Student Alliance and attending gatherings for 
the Center for Inquiry. Please join Princess Sami's family at Reyers North 
Valley Chapel for a time of visitation on Wednesday, July 20, 2016 from 1-
3pm and 6-8pm. The funeral service is to be held at Fountain Street Church 
(24 Fountain St N.E. Grand Rapids, MI 49503) on Thursday, July 21, 2016 at 
11:30am with an additional hour of visitation prior. For those who would 
like to donate in Sami's memory, contributions can be made to the Helen 
DeVos Children's Hospital or Mary Free Bed.
