Mr. Beauregard has been a blacksmith in this city for about 64 years. He was associated with Albert Geddes as a blacksmith at 20 West Jackson Street until November, 1913. When he first came to Battle Creek at the age of twenty-two from the Province of Quebec, Canada, he went into the blacksmithing trade with a Mr. Matthews on South Jefferson Avenue at a place where Hamblin Avenue now intersects it. Before coming to the United States he was married to Miss Thersil Daigneau of the Province of Quebec. Shortly after they came to Michigan, Mrs. Beauregard started a boarding house where Green and Main Streets now intersect. About two years ago he suffered a stroke of apoplexy and was forced to give up his trade which he had followed up to that time. Mr. Beauregard is very well known in Battle Creek chiefly because of his wonderful foresight in predicting weather conditions a year or so in advance. He seemed to be able to strike it right every time. For a number of years past, the press of Battle Creek went to him for his predictions, which were worth while. Two children died at an early age and Mrs. Louise Truit, 171 Grenville Street, this city, is the only child surviving. Besides Mrs. Truitt, seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren survive.
