Battle Creek Enquirer – March 19, 1996
Roland Conine, 71, of Athens, died Sunday, March 17, 1996, at home after along 
illness.
 He was born in Bangor to George L and Melissa Adeline (McNees) Conine and 
moved to Athens with his family as a child.
 He was a farmer.
 He also worked on cars and was a mud racer. Races on his father's farm
drew participants from Ohio, Pennsylvania, Canada and Michigan.
he also was a stock car owner and mechanic.
Surviving are: his wife: a son: 2 daughters: 11 grandchildren: 12 great-
grandchildren: 4 brothers and 4 sisters.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Harald L Conine on Jan. 24,1996: and a 
sister: Viola Conine.
 He enjoyed old tractors and attending tractor pulls. Was a member of the 
Michigan
Sports Buggy Association.
 Visitation will be Spencers Funeral Home, Athens from 6 - 8 pm today.
 Services will be Wednesday at 1:00 at the Funeral home with Rev. Martin Savola 
officiating.
 Burial will be in North Athens Cemetery.
 Memorials: Good Samaritan Hospice.
