(Shanley) Corkins, 73 of 554 N. Bedford Road, diec Wednesday in Leila Hospital, where she had been a patient since July 29. She had been ill four years. She was born in Battle Creek and was a lifelong resident of the city. She was employed for more than 30 years as an inspector at the former Michigan Carton Co. before retiring in 1972. Mrs. Corkins was a member of St. Jerome Catholic Church and the auxiliaries to Eagles Aerie 299 and Eferd Lynn Chapter 7, Disabled American Veterans. Surviving are daughters, Mrs. Jack (Madonna) Mapes of 1267 Avenue A, Mrs. Clifford (Irene) Mills of 554 N. Bedford Road, Mrs. Patricia Corkins of 127 Green St. and Mrs. Carolyn Hillary of San Diego; 16 grandchildren; 12 greatgrandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Sass of 290 Honey Lane. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Philip Catholic Church. Arrangements are by Richard A. Henry Funeral Home. Memorial contributions maybe made to the American Cancer Society.
