  Philip Walter Corkins, 63, of 26 Sylvan Ave, head machine repairman at the 
local Ralston Purina Co., plant, where he had been employed about 45 years, 
died unexpectedly at 6:10 a.m. today at a local hospital. He had entered the 
hospital Monday.
 Mr. Corkins was a member of Bedford Lodge, No. 207, F&A.M. and of the Grain 
Millers Union. he had been active in Boy Scout work and was a former scout 
master of Bedford Troop 40.
 He was born May 14, 1904, in Grand Rapids, a son of Frederick and Olive J. 
(Wheat) Corkins. The former Marian E. Carpenter Reed, to whom he was married 
June 25, 1945, at Angloa, Ind. survives.
 Mr. Corkins' other survivors include five children from an earlier marriage, 
Joseph W. of 153 E. Goodale Ave., Mr.s Jack (Madonna) Mapes of 240 Battle Creek 
Ave., Mrs. Clifford (Irene) Mills of Grove Street, Mrs. Patricia McNees of 240 
Battle Creek Ave. and mrs. Timothy (Caroline) Hillary of 24 S. Broad St.; fives 
step-children, Richard D. Reed of 75 Wiltshire Ave., Mrs. Harold (Eleanor) 
Weeder of 45 W. Coolidge Ave., Mrs. Thomas (Barbara) Brown of 244 S. Gardner 
St. and Mrs. Richard (Jo Ann) Willavise of 706 Joy Road; five brothers, Lloyd 
A. of 20100 Bedford Road, Edward T. of 19904 Bedford Road, William R. of Route 
3, Bellevue, Gilbert J. of Nashville and Riy E. of 87 Post Ave; three sisters 
Mrs. Harry (Mary) Saxman of 4709 S. Drive N., Mrs. Dale (Olive) Van Order of 
210 Creek View Drive and Mrs. Ralph (Isabelle) Peterson of 8794 G Drive S., 15 
grandchildren and 18 step-grandchildren.

Buried in Oak Ridge Cemetery, Marshall, MI.
