"Wink" Davis, age 62, of Dayton, TN, formerly of Battle Creek, died August 10, 2007, in Rhea Medical Center, Dayton, TN. Jim was born in Graysville, TN and moved to the Battle Creek area in 1963. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War, having served his country as an SP 4. Jim retired in 1990 after 26 years of faithful service to General Motors Corporation as a forklift operator. He was a member of the Church of God, 19th Street and Andrus Street. Jim was a great outdoorsman especially camping; was a master carpenter, but his family was his priority. Jim was married to the former, Geraldine Yother, who preceded him in death in 1992. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, his son in 1965 and great-granddaughter 2004. At the request of the family, friends may call on Wednesday, August 15th from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home. The funeral service to celebrate Jim's life will be held on Thursday, August 16th at 1:00 p.m. at the Church of God, 19th Street and Andrus Street, Battle Creek, with the Rev. William O. Bingham, Pastor and the Rev. John C. Crank, of Detroit, MI, officiating. Interment will follow at Hicks Cemetery, Pennfield Township, with Military Honors provided by the U.S. Army. Memorial contributions in Jim's honor may be made to the American Cancer Society. Additional Comments: Birth Date & Names of Survivors have been deleted for privacy.
