August 3—Funeral services for Mrs Mary Evans of Battle Creek, were held at the V. O. Johnson chapel, Sunday and were conducted by the Reverend Bradley, pastor of the Mennonite church of Battle Creek, who was assisted by the Reverend Burgess. Mrs Evans was formerly Mary Barns and was born in Lowell, May 6, 1849, married in 1868 to Levi Evans of Bellevue. They lived here until Mr Evans death a few years ago, since which time Mrs Evans has lived in Battle Creek. On Wednesday she was struck by a street car at the city bank corner in Battle Creek, and quite severely injured, was taken to Nichols hospital for treatment, and later taken to the home of her son, Carl, on Hunter street. Her injury was not considered serious at first, but owing to her advanced age, the shock terminated fatally.
