Coal Dealer and Resident of City for Many Years Was Ill Only Short Time. Patrick E. Haines, 53 of 117 Magnolia avenue, for 14 years asscociated with his brother in the Haines Coal Co. died unexpectedly at 9:15 a. m. today in his home. Mr. Haines went home from work Friday with a cold and had been ill since then, but was not thought to be in serious condition. His physician said death was caused by coronary thrombosis. A resident of Battle Creek since infancy, Mr. Haines was well known here and was prominent in lodge circle. He was a member of St. Phillip Catholic Church, Battle Creek Lodge No. 131, B. P. O. E., Battle Creek Areie No. 299, Fraternal Order of Eagles and the local (Unreadable) asscoiation. Surviving are his widow, Margaret; a son William David, at home; two sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Foley of this city and Mrs. Genevieve Toeller of Bangor, ME. and a brother David J. Haines of 42 East Avenue North with whom he had was asscociated in business. The body was taken to Hebble Funeral Home and funeral arrangements will be announce later.
