He had been ill three years. He was born in Bangor Township and had lived in Battle Creek since 1923. He was a lumberjack in the Upper Peninsula and also worked at the former A. B. Stove Co., Union Pump Co. and as chef at the former Battle Creek Sanitarium. He was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 565, World War Veterans Post 553 and Springfield Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, the former Mattie Brewer Hallmark; 2 sons; 1 daughter; 18 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren, and a brother, Lloyd Hudson of Springfield. Services will be at 11 a.m: Wednesday at Richard A. Henry Funeral Home. Memorial donations may go to Calhoun County Visiting Nurses Association.
