Doris B. Hume, 76, of Battle Creek died Monday, Dec. 7, 1998 in Evergreen Manor 
Nursing Home.
She was born Dec. 4, 1922 in San Francisco, California to Christopher and Edna 
(Wolfe) Hoeck.
She was employed at U.S. Register Co. for 25 years and as a secretary at the 
Battle Creek Federal Center for 10 years, retiring in 1990.
She married Con L. Hume on Nov. 25, 1948, in San Diego, California. He died 
Sept. 7, 1989.
Also preceding her in death were her parents; a great-grandson, David Burdick, 
in 1992; and a sister, Christine Kenyon, in 1994.
Surviving are sons, Wendell "John" Burdick of Burlington and Robert L. Burdick 
of Delton; two grandchildren she raised, Lorna K. Burdick of Albion and Scott D. 
Burdick of Battle Creek; five other grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. today (Dec. 8) at the Richard A. Henry funeral 
home, where family will be present. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday 
(Dec. 9) in the Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens Chapel. Burial will follow at Floral
Lawn Memorial Gardens.
Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association or the American Cancer 
Society.
