Her family gives thanks for her life and rejoices that she rests with God, freed from the pain she suffered. She was born in Battle Creek in 1924 to Elmer H. and Bertha L. (Skinner) White. She grew up in Battle Creek and Mishawaka, IN. She was a 1942 graduate of Battle Creek Central High School and a 1978 graduate of Northwestern University Trust School in Illinois. From 1941 to 1944 she worked at Oliver Corporation and the Rent Control Bureau. She later worked at the Dietetic Company and Semi-Automatic Ground Control at Fort Custer. In 1962, she moved to Germany for three years and worked for General Electric as a secretary for a computer programmers group. When she returned home, Donna worked in the Trust Department at Security National Bank for seven years. Donna was employed in the Trust Department at Michigan National Bank for 15 years, retiring in 1978, as a Vice President. Our family gives special thanks and appreciation to Ida Haan and Mary and Norm Forshey, who supported her so generously during the last few years; and also to her dedicated caregivers, Sherri, Monica, Dawn, September and Tomika. Also we want to thank the staff at Battle Creek Health System for the excellent and compassionate care they gave to her and our family, especially in I.C.U. and the Emergency Room. Donna was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, James R. and Richard White; and a sister, Dorothy King. Donna was a member of the Altrusa Club and Business and Professional Women. She was a member of First Baptist Church and enjoyed working on committees there. After her retirement she remained active and served on the Boards of Northside Manor and The Charitable Union and worked with Friends of the Library. Donna had a zest for life. The things she treasured the most were her family and friends. She was a wonderful, loving wife and mother, and especially enjoyed being "Nana" to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She cherished her many friends and loved cooking, entertaining, playing cards and dining out. Her favorite times of the year were holiday family get-togethers, especially Christmas. She enjoyed quilting, cross-stitching, reading, antiques, traveling, genealogy and was an avid football fan, with her favorite teams being the University of Michigan and the Green Bay Packers. At the request of the family, friends may call after 2:00 p.m. today at the Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home where they will be received 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 p.m. Services to celebrate Donna's life will be held at the Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 25, 2008.
