McNees ,72, died Friday after arrival at Leila Hospital. He had been hospitalized from March 9 to March 30 and had been in ill health for three years. He was born in Buckley and came to the Battle Creek area in 1928. From 1928 to 1929, he worked at Industrial Rubber Plant in St. Joseph. From 1929 to 1943, he we worked as a coremaker for Union Steam Pump Co. in Battle Creek. From 1943 to 1945, he served in the Navy during World War ll. He saw duty in the Pacific Theater and during the Philippine liberation. He returned to Battle Creek after the war and worked for Union Pump until 1955 He then worked for Sears, Roebuck & Co. as a receiving dock clerk until his retirement in 1974. His wife, the former Dorcas M. Stratton, died in March 1980. He is survived by 2 sons; a daughter; 2 stepsons; 1 stepdaughter; 6 brothers; 4 sister; 16 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren. A son, David N. McNees, died in July 1983. Services will he at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Hebble Chapel. Memorial donations may be made to the Michigan Heart Association.
