Battle Creek Enquirer Nov. 07, 2007
Franklin E. Phillips, 87, of Battle Creek, passed away November 4, 2007 
at Battle Creek Health System. 
Frank formerly owned and operated Phillips Produce Market and was the produce 
manager for 23 years at the former Kroger stores in Urbandale and Lakeview, 
before retiring. 
He married the former Jean L. Fetzer, who preceded him in death October 20, 
1997. 
Frank was a founding charter member of Chapel Hill United Methodist Church and 
devoted his soul to God. He was a veteran of WWII serving with the US Army Air 
Corps stationed on Attu Island, Alaska. He was a member of VFW Post #565, 
Michigan Bow Hunters, life member of the National Wild Turkey Federation, and 
was a former member of The Masons. Frank was an avid hunter and fisherman, and 
enjoyed teaching ladies and children outdoor skills.
At the request of the family, a memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday 
at Chapel Hill United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dr. James M. Gysel 
officiating. Interment in Reese Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial 
contributions may be made to Chapel Hill United Methodist Church.
