Battle Creek Enquirer
Betty Marie Root, 86, of Battle Creek and Fort Myers, Florida, passed away 
December 20, 2007 at North Point Woods.
Betty was a 1940 graduate of Delton High School and served in the Spars-U.S. 
Coast Guard from 1943 to 1945. She was employed by Larmours Drug, E.W. Bliss in 
Hastings, Eaton Manufacturing and at General Foods Division of Post products 
retiring in 1983. Betty was a life member and Past Matron of the O.E.S. 
Prudence Nobles Chapter #366, member of the Past Matrons Club, General Foods 25-
year club and A.A.R.P. 
She was married to Max G. Root in Battle Creek and he preceded her in death on 
February 22, 2007. She was also preceded in death by her parents; sisters: 
Gertrude Rhoades, Charlotte Walters, Neva Hussong, Lucile Doster and Juanita 
Kilgore; and a brother: Albert F. Kiblinger. 
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. today at the Richard A. Henry Funeral 
Home with the Rev. Jeffrey Worden officiating and visitation will be one hour 
prior to the service. Private interment will be held in Banfield Cemetery. 
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Binder Park Zoo or the Calhoun 
County Humane Society.
