Shelton, 54, of 33 Harrison Avenue, Battle Creek, a former Charlotte woman killed last Friday, August 24, 1981, at 7:30 p.m. in a traffic crash. Burial was in Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens near Marshall. Mrs Shelton, a pastry cook at the Athelstan club in Battle Creek was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash by a Barry county medical examiner. The accident occurred when the car driven by Mr. Shelton, in which the two were enroute to their cottage at Wilkinson lake, was struck head on by one driven by Darl E. Lester of Route 2, Battle Creek, as he was passing another vehicle on a rise in the Banfield road. Mr. Shelton is in Community hospital, Battle Creek, in serious condition with internal injuries, shock, three arm fractures and a nose fracture. Lester suffered leg and knee fractures, spleen rupture, multiple lacerations, internal injuries and concussion. He was alone in his car. Mrs Shelton was born in Marshall, a daughter of Chandler and Helen (McAllister) Edick, and after her marriage August 30, 1929 to Mr. Shelton they lived in Charlotte until moving to Battle Creek about 25 years ago. Surviving the husband are three sons, David, an Air Force recruit enroute to San Antonio, Texas, Emory and Ernest; two daughters, Mrs David H. (Ruth) Link and Mrs Edward (Paula) Musser and eight grandchildren, all in the Battle Creek area; and a brother, Ivan Edick of Charlotte.
