After fighting the dread desease, consumption, for the past eight years, Mrs. Catherine Scanlan passed away Sunday morning at 7:20, at her home 17, Locust atteet, at the age 42 years. It will be remembered that Mrs. Scanlan was subjected to outdoor treatment for consumption, living praticallly in the open air of the east side veranda at Nichols Hospital for a year or more. She remained in this exposed place throughout the rigors of last winter and appeared to rally. By this means her doctors state that life was prolonged at least a year, But the unequal warfare resulted at last in victory for the dark messenger. The case was watched with great interest by the local physicians. Descendant was the-widow'of Thomas Scanlan, who died a year ago. Three sons survive, James of Pennsylvania, John and William of this city, the younger of the two being ten years old. Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning at 9 o’clock at St. Phillip’s Church followed by burial in Mt. Olivert Cemetery.
