He was born in Battle Creek, and lived here all his life. He had worked for Eaton Corp. from 1935 until retiring as foreman in 1976. He attended Birchwood United Methodist Church and was a member of the Eaton Retirees. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Surviving are his wife, the former Ethel Chapin Lawton; a stepson Rev. Leon R. Lawton of Westerly, R. I., a stepdaughter Elaine Stonestreet of Charleston, W. VA., 10 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren; a sister, Catherine McCorkle of California. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Richard A. Henry Funeral Home.
