She had been in ill health since 1988. Mrs. Slocum was the daughter of the late Lenly Moses and Annie Adaline (Hudson) McNees. As a teenager she traveled by an ox-drawn Slocum wagon from Buckley to Bangor and came to Battle Creek in 1936 from Bangor. She attended school in Buckley and worked for 10 years in the packing department for Ralston Purina Co. until 1955. She had attended Washington Heights United Methodist Church and Community Ministries and the Chapel Hill United Methodist Church, She also was a member of the Valentine Center, the former Loyal Order of the Moose Auxiliary in Battle Creek, and the Gleaners. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, tatting, quilting, canning, dancing, shuffleboard, and playing cards. She married Howard Slocum in October 1918 in Paw Paw, He died in May 1971. Surviving are three daughters; 14 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren: 11 great-great-grandchildren: and a sister. A son, Reginald Howard Slocum, died on Dec. 8. 1984. She also was preceded in death by four brothers and 10 sisters. Visitation: Alter noon today at Bachman Hebble Funeral Service with the family present from 4 to 6 p.m. today and I to 3 p in Wednesday. Services: 12:30 Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev.
