Battle Creek Enquirer
Dora Christine (Jehnsen) Sonicksen, 75, of Battle Creek, MI, passed away 
peacefully surrounded by her family on Thursday, December 20, 2007 at 
Kalamazoo's Bronson Methodist Hospital.
Dora was a packer for the Kellogg Cereal Company for 27 years until she 
retired. She had previously worked at the Stevenson Camera Shop on West 
Michigan Avenue and as a clerk in the accessories department at the former L. 
W. Robinson store.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her son: Jerry W. Sonicksen (1980), 
and three brothers: Raymond Jehnsen, William Jehnsen, and Ernest Jehnsen. 
Dora graduated in 1951 from Barryton High School and came to the Battle Creek. 
She was a long time member of the Church of the Brethren and most recently the 
Faith Baptist Church.
She was a member of the Kellogg 25-Year Club, AARP and had assisted with Blue 
Birds when her daughter was young. She had made countless quilts for the 
Charitable Union and baby blankets for friends and family. She enjoyed 
crocheting, word search puzzles, she was an avid reader, and she and her 
husband had traveled for about 15 years to Lorida, Florida in their motor home 
during the winters.
Visitation will be held at the Bachman Hebble Funeral Service after 9 a.m. 
Wednesday where the family will be present from 2-7 p.m. 
Funeral services celebrating the life of Dora Sonicksen will be at 2:00 p.m. 
Thursday in the Bachman Funeral Chapel with Pastor James Beavers of Faith 
Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow at the Bedford Cemetery. 
Memorial tributes may be made to Charitable Union or Charity of one's choice or 
Faith Baptist Church.
