The Description Below Is From Cemetery Records: Leroy Township, Bedford Township, Calhoun County,State of Michigan, By D. A. R. (1941). Morgan Cemetery is like so many of the old cemeteries – no one knows just how or when it was started. Among the early burials was that of Betsy Harrison, daughter of Joshua & Harriet Robinson, who died August 18, 1839, aged 12 years. Whether the Cemetery was called Robinson before or after this – We do not know, at any rate it was known years as Robinson Cemetery. In 1867, William Morgan purchased land from Walter J. Swart, and on a knoll surrounded by this land, was the little Robinson Cemetery. It was old then and covered with weeds and briars, and not liking its unsightly appearance, Mr. Morgan proceeded to clean it up and as the cemetery needed more room, he sold small parcels of the land on three different occasions until it became a three acre tract. It may be that because of his interest in the cemetery and the additions from his own land, that the name of Robinson slowly dropped and it was known as Morgan’s Cemetery. To this day Morgan Cemetery serves an increasing population in that vacinity.
