This monumental inscription is for Abby M. Palmer, the first wife of Dr. 
Benjamin A. Gallup.  Abby was the daughter of Joseph and Mary (Peabody) 
Palmer.  It reads: Abby M. Palmer/Wife of/Benj. A. Gallup/ Born/At Preston, 
Conn./May 8,1826/Died/June 5, 1854.
