ATWOOD OLD MUTUAL INS. CO. MAN DEAD Was Treasurer and Secretary of Farmer’s Mutual for Twelve Years Dowagiac, Nov. 8—Frank Atwood, for several years secretary of the Farmer’s Mutual Insurance Company, is dead at Dowagiac after an illness of one week, brought on by a complication of diseases, including systoms[sic] of typhoid fever. Atwood was the only son of Lafayette and Adelaide Allen Atwood, and was born on the old homestead in Wayne, August 12, 1852. Before he was 21 he was elected school inspector in his township. Following this he was town clerk for six years. Then he was chosen supervisor, holding that position nine years, in a township in which the opposing party had a majority. Mr. Atwood was married to Miss Belle Ingling, only daughter of Samuel and Jane Ingling in 1874. In 1902 they moved to Dowagiac. The management of their farm was turned over to the two sons, Fred and Ray. A daughter, Mrs. Thomas Welsh resides here. He was elected treasurer of the Farmers Mutual Fire Ins. Company holding that position five years, later being elected secretary and holding that position seven years, and then resigning owing to ill health. He was elected alderman lastt spring. He was administrator of numerous estates at the time of this death.
