Niles Democrat, Sat. Feb. 2, 1889 p. 1
George Bedford died at his home in Silver Creek township, Monday, January 
28th, aged abut 75 years.  His funeral took place yesterday forenoon and his 
remains were laid at rest in Indian Lake cemetery.  Mr. Bedford was a native 
of England and emigrated to his country about 55 years ago and first settled 
at Syracuse, New York, where he remained a few years, when he got the western 
fever and removed to Michigan about fifty years ago and settled upon the lands 
he has since brought up from its state of nature to as finely cultivated land 
as is to be found in southwestern Michigan.  He has generally enjoyed good 
health and was a hard working man.  He has raised a large family who have 
grown up to be men and women who are highly respected by all who know them.  
He leaves a wife and seven children who deeply mourn his departure. (reprinted
