He was 85 years old and had served in the Mexican war and war of the rebellion doing meritorius service in both. He had been granted $30 a month pension, through the efforts of Congressman Hamilton. Additional Comments: William's birthdate was probably between 1824 and 1826. Death certificate showed him as 76 years old, tombstone shows birth in 1825; military pension file has several ages shown. William is buried in Riverside Cemetery (Dowagiac, Cass, Michigan) beside his second wife Mary Ann Rasco Brookins and her parents S.S. & W.J. Rasco.
