DIED, on Thursday, May 3, at the residence of her daughter, near Dowagiac, Mrs.
Lucy Jarvis, Aged 91 years, 2 months and 28 days.
	The deceased was born in North Carolina, moving so southern Indiana after her
marriage, and in 1835 to Michigan, having since made her home in Cass and
Berrien counties.  She had a vigorous constitution, great ambition and marked
perseverance, which enabled her to undergo the hardships of pioneer life with
fortitude.  She possessed many virtues, not the least of which was amiability,
which won her many friends. And in her last sickness, which was attended by the
keenest suffuring[sic] she endured all with patience and resignation.  She lived
31 years in widowhood after having raised six children to maturity, four of whom
survive her.  She leaves 110 living decendants[sic], including the husbands and
wives who have married into the family; 63 of that number, representing four
living generations, were present at her funeral, which was also attended by a
large number of sympathizing friends, who kindly assisted in laying her away
where she will quietly sleep until the resurrection morn, when "all that are in
the graves shall hear His voice and shall come forth.' May those she left behind
strive to imitate her virtues and lead lives acceptable to the Giver of all good.
