1909-1992
Former Heddon's employee
Marcellus----- Myrtle "Berdene" Leich, 83, of Dowagiac Nursing Home, formerly of
59733 Decatur Road, Lot 14, Cassopolis, died at 6 a.m. Tuesday, June 16, 1992,
in Lee memorial Hospital, Dowagiac.
She was born Feb. 11, 1909, in Mason Township, the daughter of Ernest L. and
Lillie (Parker) Lybarker.
 She lived most of her life in the Dowagiac and Cassopolis areas. She had been
employed at James Heddon's Sons in Dowagiac for eight years.
On April 29, 1942, in Niles, she married Gordon R. Leich, who preceded her in
death Jan. 19, 1972.
Survivors include: a stepdaughter, Mrs. Roy (Florence) Kraft; a stepson, Dean
Leich of Dowagiac; six step grandchildren; nine step-great-grandchildren, two
step-great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Nellie Haverstroh of North Fork,
Neb. and Bessie Dorrier of Cassopolis, and several nieces and nephews. She was
preceded in death by step daughter Bonita Grant.
Graveside services will be today at 3 p.m. in Rosehill Cemetery, Nicholsville,
west of Marcellus. The Rev. Charles VanLente, pastor of Cassopolis United
Methodist Church, will officiate. Memorials may be made to the Cass County on
Aging.
