Local - 1931
Lydia J. Rifenberg, widow of the late Levi C. Rifenberg, died at the home of 
her son James in Constantine Township at eight thirty Sunday morning after an 
illness of five months.

She was born in Porter Township, Cass county, Oct. 2, 1838, a daughter of 
George and Polly (Fuller) Carr.  She spent the early years of her life in 
POrter township and on Nov. 15, 1857 was married to Mr. Rifenberg who preceded 
her in death 35 years ago.

They began housekeeping on the farm where she spent her entire married life,  
Mrs. Rifenberg enjoyed a wide acquaintance during her long life and made many 
friends by her pleasant manner and kind disposition.

She is survived by one son, Jesse M., two daughters, Miss Jennie Rifenberg of 
Constantine township and Mrs. Irving Ream of POrter township, 12 
grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Lucetta Preston of 
Constantine.

Funeral services will be held at the home at two o'clock fast time Wednesday, 
Rev. Wm. Kennedy officiating.  Burial at Sand Hill Cemetery.
