John Worthen, 69, died last evening at 9:30 o'clock at Epworth hospital in South
Bend where he had been a patient for several weeks and where he had previously
received hospital care.  The cause of death was erysipseias[sic].  The family
home is south of Niles.  The body was brought to the Rutherford Funeral home
last night.  The funeral will probably be held in the Methodist church in this
city Wednesday afternoon.  Both Mr. Worthen and his wife had been prominent
members of that church for many years.  His wife, who was a teacher in the
Sunday school, died on June 5, 1925, and since that time. Mr. Worthen's health
has shown a steady decline.  The deceased is survived by two children, Rose and
Roy, at home.

Family lived in Milton twp., Cass County, in 1920 Federal Census.
