Macom was the oldest son of Henry Clay Wilson (Sr) b. January 1820 and Catharine/Catharin Hunt b. 1824. Henry Clay Wilson and Catharine/Catharin Hunt were married February 24, 1840, Robeson County, North Carolina. Note: Catharin Hunt was the daughter of Neil and Jennie Hunt. Family research indicates the Hunt family were members of the Lumbee Tribe on the Red Banks Reservation in North Carolina. The 1850 Census indicates Macom was living in Fugit, Decatur, Indiana. The Wilson Family moved to Calvin Township, Cass County Michigan in 1853. The siblings of Macom Wilson were: Catherine Wilson b. 1842, Elizabeth Wilson b. 1844, , Patience Wilson b. 1845 Henry Clay Wilson (Jr), b. 1847, Emeline Wilson b. 1849, Minerva Wilson b. 1850, Levi Wilson, b. 1852, Hiram Wilson b. 1855 and Jim Wilson b. 1858. Macom Wilson married Elvira Coker in 1860. Elvira Coker was born March 12, 1843 in Gallia County Ohio. Macom and Elvira were the parents of Delilah Catherine “Kit” Wilson b. March 12, 1862, James H. Wilson b. May 31, 1869 and Frank Wilson b. June 22, 1873. Macom Wilson was a farmer in Calvin Township, Cass County Michigan. Family lore indicates Macom was ambitious and successful. Macom was also considered a “ladies man”. On special occasions Macom operated a children’s amusement ride. On August 15, 1883 at the Emancipation Day celebration near the fence line between the Richard Evans Place and George Allen farm (formerly Elijah Osborn grove); Levi the younger brother of Macom got into an argument with Ami and James Curtis. There was a a barrage of stones being thrown, the altercation was stopped by Macom and the parties began to walk away. Someone in the crowd threw another stone hitting James Curtis. James Curtis thinking Macom had thrown the stone drew his pistol and fatally shot Macom Wilson in the back; with the ball shot passing through Macom’s lung killing him instantly. Macom only 42 years old was wearing a red and white checker colored shirt made 1881)by his mother Catharin Hunt Wilson. Today this shirt is in the possession of James Donald Wilson the great grandson of Macom.
